Help Me Find a Hairstyle!

Getting my hair cut is always a huge event for me. I have super thick, blonde hair, and whenever I sit in that chair at the hair salon, I freak out. I'm planning on getting my hair cut, and probably highlighted, before I go back to school in August and I'm on the prowl for something new that I can do to my hair.

A little background story, when I was in second grade my hair was starting to get really thick and I just couldn't take care of it by myself. My mom would always have to brush it, and of course, I would get major knots. Tears were shed, my scalp was constantly hurting from brushing it so much, and my mom had to actually cut out knots sometimes when they got too bad. That being said, she decided that the best idea was to cut my hair super short - just below my ears. I hated it, to say the least.

I've grown out my hair ever since then and I'm so scared to cut it short again. My hair is so thick that when it's cut short, it just poofs out and looks enourmous, not flattering. I was awarded "Best Hair" in my high school superlatives due to my long hair, but now, I feel like I need a little bit of a change. I'm not sure if I should try layers, or a shorter length, or maybe even a color change. You can see what my hair looks like now in the pictures above. I could use any and all opinions! I'm being pulled in all directions from people telling to not cut it at all and other telling me to chop it all off. Help me!

I absolutely adore Lauren Conrad. I think she's super classy and fabulous, and of course, always beautiful. She always knows how to present herself and she hasn't rocked a hairstyle that I haven't liked yet. In fact, today she decided to dye her tips these bright colors. It's so bold - I love it! It looks so good with that tone of blonde hair, but I just don't know if I could pull off such a daring move. I feel like it might cause more bad attention than good, and I don't know how my family and friends would take such a unique look. What are your thoughts?

  2. I also absolutely adore LC and am loving what she's done with her tips - try a semi-permanent color and see if you like it! + Long layers and work with straightening and curling tools... Stylists can even "thin" your hair out to get a look you're more comfortable with! :)

  3. who gives a rats what your friends or family say? it's your hair! so do what you like. just as dani said above, a hair stylist can use a razor comb that thins, but also textures, and layers the hair. what ever you do decide, i bet you'll still be as pretty as ever!

  6. ooh i love the last photo! her hair looks so nice. i've been trying to grow out my hair because i always regret cutting it afterwards. i think you should try highlights or add some sort of new color to it! good luck :)

  7. First of all I want to thank you on your lovely comment. I love your hair, btw :) I think if you like your hair long then don't cut it. I've had the same lenght and I cut it really short- now I am regretting it. Try to find lots of different hairstyles for your type of hair and experiment. I'm sure you'll love it. As or highlighting, first try temporary colour to see how it suits you. Here are some examples to help you (I've already mention it on my blog): http://www.longlocks.com/hairstyles.htm

  10. ur hair have such volume!wow!u should blond them a bit more and cut them of a little bit just for a change :) i'm sure u'll look wonderful whatever you choose!

  11. Wow! How long does your hair grow? :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think you could go shorter without loosing the volume. A slight fringe would work on your face. What do you think of this? http://tinyurl.com/6g2ay77

    ReplyDelete
  13. I definitely think you go a bit shorter without loosing fullness - it would just be a matter of making sure your stylist was on board and knew what they were doing. And I totally think you could rock the pastel tips, maybe just try it with a semi-permanent color first...

  15. i actually have really thick hair too (although mine is rather curly). but definitely go to a hair dresser that has the same type of hair that you do, they know how to style and cut your hair really well then. i have a short angled bob which i think works really well. i have the type of hair that will be a triangle when it's really short too! but, if you have them put in some strategic layers, it'll have a nice shape, instead of triangle. other than that, i think you have gorgeous long hair and any style that lauren conrad has would look great on you. good luck!

  37. I so hate getting my haircut. I never know what to tell the stylist I want done to it. So I've decided to let my hair grow out so I can wear cute updos.

  38. Girl your hair is awesome, but I know the feeling. My hair was getting really long to the point where I was just over it. I chopped my hair off to my shoulders. The thinning thing is definitely an option, but your hair is so nice! I vote go a little shorter, maybe do some layers, then highlight it a little bit!

    Good luck!
