Elie Saab & Monique Lhuillier: Pre-Fall 2012

Collections for Pre-Fall 2012 are finally hitting runways, and I'm falling in love with all the dresses. I've always loved the designer Elie Saab. I did a post about the Spring collection last year (click here). The collection again had me in awe. The dresses are pristine and sharp and the simple colors are perfect for any night out. See all the looks here. My favorites from the collection are shown below.

Monique Lhuillier's collection also had a few show-stopping gowns that I adored. I wasn't a fan of the entire collection, but it was definitely worthy of an honorable mention for the few dresses that really stood out. Click here to see the full collection.

What are your favorite Pre-Fall 2012 collections?

Daring or Dreadful: Tights with Open-Toed Shoes

I was reading up on Lauren Conrad's blog the other day, and she recently did a post about wearing tights with open-toed shoes or heels (click here for the link). I've always be skeptical as to whether or not I should or should not wear tights with my heels (even though I barely wear tights since I'm in hot Florida). I'm still indecisive about whether or not I think it's appropriate.

Here is Lauren's response to my questioning:

"Personally, I love wearing tights with open toed heels. It’s a simple way to wear your favorite spring and summer pieces during colder seasons. How economical, right?
My favorite tight + toe-baring shoe combo is black tights with black heels. The black on black tricks the eye and makes your legs look a mile long."

I guess it might depend on the type of shoes and color of the tights, or maybe how much of the tights is showing? I would love to hear your feedback. Have you tried this look before? Did it work for you, or not so much?

What do you think? Is wearing tights with open-toed shoes daring or dreadful?

Golden Globes 2012 Red Carpet

Although the Golden Globes isn't my favorite awards show to watch, of course I couldn't leave out a red carpet review from one of  such a classic event! Among the sparkling starlets and dapper dudes, they're were some amazing gowns while others left me asking why.

Ruffles seemed to be a trend for the GG red carpet this year.
Dianna Argon's red hot ruffles looked amazing with her detailed bodice, while Julianne Moore's black ruffles were in all the wrong places. A slim-fitting top with ruffles around the hips, then slim in the legs again only made her body look larger than it actually is - and what woman wants that?!

There were quite a few that I loved though, including
Elle Macpherson's off-white mermaid-style gown, and Channing Tatum's wife, Jenna Dewan, in a simple yet elegant emerald gown. Evan Rachel Wood reminded me of a peacock, in a good way! Her sequin top and feathered bottom were a perfect match. And of course, who could hate Sofia Vergara's hip hugging silhouette?

Lastly, I can't believe that
Kelly Osbourne has shown up to disappoint...yet again! Her bright blue dress with a strong shoulder accentuation just did not work for me....and I'm still begging desperately that she dies her hair back to a normal color. For one of the hosts for Fashion Police, I expect a lot more from her!

As for
Lea Michele, pictured on the right, I'm not so sure what to think. What's your opinion? Do you think there will ever be an awards show were I love all the dresses? What do you think?

GOOD

Elle Macpherson, Sarah Hyland, Heidi Klum

Evan Rachel Wood, Dianna Argon, Sofia Vergara

Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan; George Clooney & Stacey Keibler; Cash Warren & Jessica Alba

BAD

Natalie Portman, Kelly Osbourne, Zooey Deschanel

Piper Parabo, Julianne Moore, Sarah Michelle Gellar

People's Choice Awards 2012

It's finally January, and you know what that means...the red carpet season! The People's Choice Awards 2012 kicked off the season with gorgeous dresses and makeup. Although it's not the best red carpet, there were definitely a few that outshined the rest, like Miley Cyrus. She continues to surprise me, as I'm not usually her biggest fan, but her makeup and wardrobe (and arm candy accessory Liam Hemsworth) were all gorgeous!

But as always, there were some starlets that left me scratching my head, like Nina Dobrev (pictured on the left). I love the color, but I'm not so sure about the sleeves. Then Kristen Bell and Ashley Greene both tried to rock leather and lace, but it just didn't mesh well on Kristen, and Ashley's dress was completely ill-fitting.

And then, there were some floaters - some that I didn't really love, but I didn't hate either. Let's just say they were confused? I would have loved Kelly Osbourne's  it if it were strapless, but those sleeves make it look horrible, and I'm really not loving those gray tresses either. And Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence's cut outs are a bit suggestive, am I right?

Did you watch the awards show last night? Who were your favorites/least favorites?

Miley Cyrus, Kaley Cuoco, Cheryl Burke

Julianne Hough, Miley Cyrus, Lucy Hale

Demi Lovato, Lucy Hale, Vanessa Hudgens

Kelly Osbourne, Jennifer Lawrence, Julianne Hough

Kathy Griffin, Kristen Bell, Ashley Greene

NYE 2011 Trend Alert: Black & White

New Years Eve is the perfect opportunity to dress up in sky-high heels, a fitted dress, and some sparkly accessories, but when ringing in 2012, the celebrities of Hollywood seemed to gravitate towards black and white.

My favorite, Kim Kardashian, looked amazing in her fitted bright white dress, that was perfectly off-set by her dark hair and new bangs. New year, new Kim, right? Let's hope this year is better for her than 2011 was. Speaking of the Kardashian's, I see Kris Jenner spotted in black and white more than ever lately, and boy does she love to rock the tuxedo trend. New Year's Eve was no exception.

What do you think about this NYE trend? Who was your favorite? Did you wear black and white?

Kim Kardashian, Sophia Vergara, Mary J Blige

Jenny McCarthy, Lady Gaga, Kris Jenner
