Celebrities Who Ditched Their Long Locks for a Chic Cut

Recently, Lauren Conrad ditched her gorgeously long mermaid hair for a cute and chic texturized bob. I was shocked to see that she made the cut, but of course, can Lauren Conrad really do any wrong? I think not. I may be a little biased considering that she's basically my idol, but the proof is in the pictures - she's just down right flawless.

She actually had her hair cut 4 times until she got to the right length. Lauren said that he long locks have acted as a security blanket for her for many years past, which I can definitely relate to.

I've emulated her hair trends a few times, from her effortlessly soft curls to her dyed pastel tips - yes I had pastel tips for a few weeks (and actually loved it), but there's no way I could pull off a bob like her. My hair is much too thick. I've been there in grade school, and boy was that a mistake.

Also loving her outfit from this recent Who What Wear shoot.

Of course not everyone can pull of the chop as flawlessly as Mrs. Conrad - or should I say Mrs. Tell! Here's a few other celebs who took the daring cut, but in my opinion, some should have stuck with their long longs as opposed to the short do's.

Better Short

Emma Stone
Taylor Swift

Better Long

Kaley Cuoco
Anne Hathaway
Jennifer Lawrence
Shailene Woodley

Can Rock Long or Short

Hayden Panettiere
Emma Roberts

Miley Cyrus

Julianne Hough

Who do you think can pull of the short cut? Have you ever made a drastic cut like these celebrities?

Most Popular Fashion Trends of 2012: Love it or Leave it?

The new year is finally here and as we say goodbye to 2012, should be also be saying goodbye to some of 2012's most popular trends? Their sales sky-rocketed this past year and we saw them from runways to the streets of our neighborhoods. But are these trends just fads? Keep reading and let me know if you love it, or want to leave these six fashion trends.

Peplum Dress. At first, this trend seemed quite odd. Why would women want to make their hips look even wider than they already are? But if you find a peplum outfit that hits you in all the right places, this trend can do wonders. This trend is still on the uphill incline and I see it sticking around for the new year. Love it!

Sheer Tops & Bandeaus Bras. When we first started to see this trend emerge, it seemed a bit daring. Showing so much skin and showing your undergarments used to be a no-no, but my, how the tables have turned in 2012. Even though this was such a popular trend this past year, I forsee sheer tops becoming a slowly dying trend. Leave it!

Spikes and Studs. From shoes, to collars, to jewelry, it seemed like you could find anything and everything with studs or spikes on it. Fashionistas everywhere channeled their inner punk rock persona and took on this rebellious trend. It was a huge trend in 2012, but I think it will slowly decrease in popularity. Even though I love this trend in small increments, I don't think it will continue to flourish in the new year. Leave it!

Chevron Print. By far, the most popular print of 2012 was chevron. This zig-zag pattern could be seen in any color on a ton of different canvases from clothes, to wall paintings, to pillows. Although this trend sky-rocketed when it first appeared, I don't see chevron fading out anytime soon. Love it!

Blazers. Suddenly, the easiest way to make any outfit chic was the throw on some heels and blazer. Blazers definitely made their mark on 2012 by becoming available in every different color and pattern and being available at affordable prices. Although they just hit their peak, blazers are here to stay in 2013. Love it!

Crazy Colored Hair. From ombre hair to dyed tips, to pink highlights, we saw it all in 2012 when it came to hair trends. Everyone fell in love with the ombre trend and even I succumbed to the dyed tips trend for a week or two. I think most of us are done with the rainbow colored hair, but ombre is a trend that will be around for a while. Leave it!

So what do you think about these trends? Which ones were your favorite trends of 2012? Which trends should we leave in 2012 and which ones should we carry over to 2013?

Spontaneous Colored Tips!

I've been feeling spontaneous lately, so I finally decided to dye my tips! I was so inspired when Lauren Conrad did blue and pink on her tips and I've been wanting to do it ever since. I'm planning on cutting my hair in a week or two, so it will just be temporary, but it's definitely a change for me. A lot of people probably wouldn't expect something like this from me, but since it's for a short time, why not give it a try? I got a great reaction from all my friends, and even though it hasn't totally sunk in that part of my hair is blue, pink, and purple, I'm slowly getting used to feeling like I have mermaid hair haha.

Dying my tips was relatively easy too. I mainly just followed the tutorial from The Beauty Department. I got all the supplies at Sally Beauty Salon for about $40 and then my friend kindly spent 2 hours working on about 12 different streaks. First, you need to bleach the tips, then wash them out and then put the color on, and you're going to want a few different shades of whatever color you want so that you can get an ombre-esque look. Click here for the full detailed instructions!

The colors I used, and the two test pieces I did the night before.

The final turn-out!

What do you think about colored tips? Have you or will you ever try this with your hair?

Hair Inspiration

Lately, everyone is creating new and innovative ways to style their hair, and I'm loving it! Hair bows, rainbow highlights, ombre hair and unique braids are among the hair trends that are becoming extremely popular.

Unfortunately, since my hair is so thick and long, it's nearly impossible for me to pull of the hair bow-bun type of style, but I've listed the link to the video that I watched to learn how to do it, and it's a lot easier than it might seem! As for the rainbow tips on the left (that picture is of Lauren Conrad), I would love to try that just for a week before I cut my hair next time. It's such a fun look, but I don't think I could have it on a daily basis.

Would/Have you tried any of these hairstyles? What's your favorite hair inspiration?

Daring or Dreadful: Two-Toned/Ombre Hair

Every Friday while I'm watching Fashion Police on E!, I always think to myself how much I love Giuliana Rancic's hair color! Her roots start in a dark brown shade, but as the hair falls, the color lightens until it's basically butterscotch blonde at the tips. Her two-toned hair, also known as ombre, always catches my eye, and I'm loving it!

Giuliana isn't the only celebrity trying out this trend though. Shenae Grimes, Drew Barrymore, Hilary Duff, Jessica Biel, Rachel Bilson, Sarah Jessica Parker, and my favorite, Lauren Conrad, among others have been experimenting with this look. It's almost like they let their roots grow out so that their natural color shows, but the color happens to blend perfectly with the previous color. Have you tried coloring your hair this way, or is your hair naturally like this? I would love to hear for my followers!

What's your take on this hair trend? Daring or Dreadful?

Help Me Find a Hairstyle!

Getting my hair cut is always a huge event for me. I have super thick, blonde hair, and whenever I sit in that chair at the hair salon, I freak out. I'm planning on getting my hair cut, and probably highlighted, before I go back to school in August and I'm on the prowl for something new that I can do to my hair.

A little background story, when I was in second grade my hair was starting to get really thick and I just couldn't take care of it by myself. My mom would always have to brush it, and of course, I would get major knots. Tears were shed, my scalp was constantly hurting from brushing it so much, and my mom had to actually cut out knots sometimes when they got too bad. That being said, she decided that the best idea was to cut my hair super short - just below my ears. I hated it, to say the least.

I've grown out my hair ever since then and I'm so scared to cut it short again. My hair is so thick that when it's cut short, it just poofs out and looks enourmous, not flattering. I was awarded "Best Hair" in my high school superlatives due to my long hair, but now, I feel like I need a little bit of a change. I'm not sure if I should try layers, or a shorter length, or maybe even a color change. You can see what my hair looks like now in the pictures above. I could use any and all opinions! I'm being pulled in all directions from people telling to not cut it at all and other telling me to chop it all off. Help me!

I absolutely adore Lauren Conrad. I think she's super classy and fabulous, and of course, always beautiful. She always knows how to present herself and she hasn't rocked a hairstyle that I haven't liked yet. In fact, today she decided to dye her tips these bright colors. It's so bold - I love it! It looks so good with that tone of blonde hair, but I just don't know if I could pull off such a daring move. I feel like it might cause more bad attention than good, and I don't know how my family and friends would take such a unique look. What are your thoughts?

Lauren Conrad & Khole Kardashian: Hair Dye and WWIB

This month, two of my favorite celebrity reality stars changed their hair color, and I can't decide if it's for better or worse! Lauren Conrad, the sunkissed California reality star, and now author, has decided to go to the dark side. She appeared at Covergirl's 50th Anniversary party with her hair dyed dark brown instead of her usual golden waves. Coincidentally, that was the same night that Khole Kardashian appeared at the Critic's Choice Awards with her new hair color, switching from dark brown to a strawberry blonde (she's actually a natural blonde). What do you think looks better on these lovely ladies?

Before & After: Lauren Conrad

Before & After: Khloe Kardashian (too bad she already dyed it back to brown!)

Who Wore It Best? Khloe and Lauren both seen above in Dolce and Gabbana.

h² says: As for Lauren's hair, I'm in the middle! She looks great as a blonde and brunette, but I think the dark hair is good for this season. I also think Khloe's hair looks great either way, but I love that she went for a change. The strawberry blonde looks amazing on her and she'll stand out from her sisters. As for WWIB, I'd definitely have to go with Lauren, sorry Khloe!
