Fashion or Fad: Ombré Tights

It's finally starting to get a bit colder down here in Florida (even though I'm still wearing shorts four times a week). Everyone has been loving the ombre trend for hair, and it has slowly translated into clothing. Now, with winter right around the corner, and fall in full bloom, I've been seeing a new trend: ombré tights. They're perfect for wearing under a dress or skirt when going out at night, but are ombre tights something that will stick around for seasons to come?

I think ombré tights will stick around for a few seasons and will probably "fade out" by Spring of 2014. I've seen the ombré go in both directions also (lighter on the bottom, and lighter on the top). Take a look at some of these different ombré tights and tell me what you think!

BZR Etsy - $30-$40

Anthropologie - $18
Modcloth - $14.99

Do you have any ombré tights? What do you think: fashion or fad?

Stand-Outs from 2012 CMA's

The 46th annual Country Music Association Awards was a night full of laughs, tears, and tons of singing.
Although there weren't too many stand out favorites from the red carpet, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift are worth  mentioning. I feel like these two almost never get it wrong. They continue to look classy and elegant on the red carpet. It was fitting for Taylor to wear a dress with some red in it considering her recent album release titled "Red" (which I'm obsessed with). Carrie also had a ton of other amazing dress changes throughout the show since she was hosting. I would die to have any of those numbers!

Did you watch the CMAs last night? Who were your favorites, or least favorites?

Looks I Love: Jennifer Hudson

This past week was the premiere of the season finale for the 10th season of Project Runway. Even though this was filmed about a month ago at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, fans of Project Runway got their first look into the remaining 4 finalists collections on Thursday (October 18).

Even though I loved all the collections that the designers presented, I couldn't stop staring at guest judge Jennifer Hudson every time the camera panned over to the judges! I'm usually not the biggest fan on jumpsuits, but this teal ensemble was to die for! At first glance, I thought it was a pant suit, but once she walked the runway, I realized it was actually a jumpsuit. Everything from the teal blazer, to her coral lips, and effortless braid was just perfect.

She stole the show from the Project Runway finalists, and I was more interested in where I could get something as chic and cool as that instead of who was going to win season 10! With a little research, I discovered that it's actually a piece from Michael Kors' Resort 2013 Collection (which was also gorgeous - click here to see for yourself).

She definitely showed up the other judges too. I always love Nina Garcia's choices, but Heidi Klum went a little overboard with her nude, sparkly, cut-out, cleavage-plunging dress. It just seemed like she was trying way to hard.

Were you in love with Jennifer's look as much as I was? Can you rock the jumpsuit trend?

Fall Color Obsession: Burgundy

Even though I feel like Florida doesn't really follow color fashion trends because the weather is always so warm, my favorite color to wear in the fall is burgundy, otherwise known as maroon. The dark crimson-wine color is perfect for the dark palettes of the cooler months of the year.

It's definitely been a popular color in stores and I can't get enough of it! Recently, I bought two burgundy pieces from Lauren Conrad's collection at Kohl's: a blazer and a sheer button-up with black polka dots. I also bought a teardrop burgundy statement necklace from Francesca's. Whether it's a blouse, skirt, blazer, jeans or a dress, burgundy will definitely be a key hue in my fall wardrobe.

Some of my favorite looks:

Do you love burgundy too? What's your favorite fall hue?

Elie Saab Spring RTW 2013

Elie Saab has done it again. He continues to put beautiful collections down the runway season after season. His whimsical style and effortless looks are what makes me fall in love.

His Spring Ready-to-Wear 2013 collection was presented at Paris Fashion Week on October 3rd. It contained a color palette of reds, whites, blues, and blacks. I'm in love with the color cobalt blue, and he opened up the collection with a  few looks in head-to-toe cobalt blue. Some pieces were fitted and silhoutette skimming, while others were soft and flowy. The lace pieces are innovative and are great showstoppers for any event.

I could go on and on about how much I love this designer, but I'll save you the reading and you can see for yourself. Click here to see his full collection, and previous collections from other seasons.

What were your favorite collections from this season? Do you love Elie Saab as much as I do?

Favorites From NY Fashion Week 2012

It's finally that time of the year again when fashionistas from around the country flock to Bryant Park for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. If you aren't lucky enough to see the Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear runway shows in person,  you're probably glued to your computer so that you can see all the live videos and updated runway shoots like me. Style.com has definitely been my most visited website this past week without a doubt.

Of course the glitz and glamour of Fashion Week always seems to leave us awe-struck, but a few designers so far have completely caught my attention and made me wish I had a never-ending pocket of cash to splurge on all these gorgeous pieces. But I guess I'll just keep dreaming by living vicariously through my favorite celebrities and bloggers.

Alice + Olivia. I've always been a huge fan of Alice + Olivia, so it didn't come as a shock that I fell in love again with their feminine and flirty pieces.

Jenny Packham. There's a sense of chic sophistication when it comes to Jenny Packham's lines and this Spring 2013 collection was no exception.

Jason Wu. On the other hand, a little leather, lace, and cut-outs aren't so bad either. Even though the darker colors contrast my previous favorites, Jason Wu always has unique pieces for the women who aren't afraid to add a little edge to their ensemble.

Herve Leger by Max Azria. Geometric shapes, skimming silhouettes, and cinched waists were found on nearly every runway look this season for Herve Leger. The collection mainly consisted of dresses
that hit mid-thigh and are definitely show-stoppers.

And honestly, the show I'm most excited for has yet to happen. The very last show in Paris on October 3rd. Elie Saab will be the closer of a fashion-filled month, and I can't wait to see what kinds of gorgeous gowns he puts down the runway this season!

What were your favorite collections? Were any of your favorite designers disappointing on the runway this season? Were you able to go to NYC for Fashion Week?

Current Obsession: Printed Trousers

So I'm starting to fall in love with the current printed trousers trends. They're perfect for any season and look great in a fitted form that clings to your curves. Whether it's a print, polka dots, or a floral pattern, I love them all, and they're popping up in stores everywhere.

Even though I live in Florida, and sometimes pants are sticky and hot, a cropped pant that hits the mid-calf can still work in the summer heat. And if you're not a pants person, printed shorts and just as bold and amazing. Pair them with a plain white t-shirt, oxford, or complimenting color and you've got a bold, but very polished look!

Do you love the printed trouser trend? What's your favorite print to wear?

1. ASOS - Floral Print
2. Zara - Floral Print Trousers
3. ASOS - Warehouse Tailored Pants in Print
4. J. Crew - Cafe Capri in Pop Are Polka Dot
5. J. Crew - Cafe Capri in Kaleidoscope Dot
6. Tory Burch - Owen Jacquard Dot Pant

Louboutin Loves

Christian Louboutin. The classic, chic pump, easily distinguished by it's red hot sole - there's something so sexy about that little touch of red. If only I had an unlimited budget, I would have tons of those precious specimens lined up on my imaginary shoe rack in my unrealistically huge walk-in closet. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Even though I'm already on the taller side (5'9"), I'm the kind of girl who isn't afraid to wear sky-high heels, and Louboutins are definitely nothing short of that. So as I drift of into a day dream of perfect shoes I wish I could afford, I'll give you a quick highlight reel of what's going through my head.

They're all to die for, but if I could only have one, I would choose the leopard print pair. Fun for any outfit, yet still skyscraper high and chic.

Do you own a pair of Louboutins? If you don't, which would you pick?

Etsy: A World of Unknown Accessories

So let me begin by saying that I'm sorry about being a bit MIA lately. I've been finishing up with school, exams, and then doing a lot of traveling. I just got back today from a week-long trip boating around the Bahamas with my family. It was a lot of fun, but I'm not quite as tan as I'd like to be haha. Now, it's mostly back to reality though - work and online classes for the rest of summer.

Before I went on vacation, I saw that you could get monogrammed stickers to put on the "home" button on your iPhone. I checked out Etsy.com and found a seller who makes 12 stickers with your monogram for only $6.00! It was a bargain that I couldn't pass up, so I ordered some immediately. I'm still waiting for mine to come in the mail, but I've posted a picture below from the seller's photos (click here for the link to her page). She also has other sized stickers for coolers, shoes, cars, and much more. Most importantly, they're all at a cheap and affordable price!

A few months ago, I had been dying to have a wishbone necklace. Just a simple, silver wishbone pendant that hangs on a sliver necklace. I had seen it on celebrities, but I hadn't seen it in stores anywhere. So again, I looked on Etsy and found one for only $16. I love that necklace. It's so simple, yet I get a lot of compliments on it (click here for the link to her page). It's also available in gold, and she has some other really cute pendants available also!

I know that Etsy has so much to offer, but I never know where to look. There are so many different categories and tons of unique accessories. I'm sure that many of my followers have purchased some pieces - or maybe you're a seller yourself! I would love to hear what you have bought or if you saw anything cool items like the wishbone necklace or monogrammed stickers.

Have you bought anything from Etsy? Have you ever sold any of your creations?

An Eventful Weekend

This past weekend was a crazy one, but definitely amazing. My boyfriend and I went back to Tampa to attend his sister's wedding. I decided to wear the bright blue dress from H&M that was on Fashion Star with the cut-out back - I'm obsessed. It was the perfect dress for the occasion, and a statement white necklace looked great with my sky-high wedges.

Saturday, we headed back to Orlando to attend my sorority's Formal, or Sapphire Ball as we call it. I had frantically searched for a dress, and finally found a hot pink Jessica Mcclintock short dress that I loved. My boyfriend, Jordan, found a light pink shirt and matching striped tie, paired with a brand new pair of classic black and white converse. During the event, superlatives were awarded, and I was awarded the title of Best Dressed :) Overall, they were such fun events, and I had a great time this weekend!

Did you do anything fun this weekend? What's your go-to wedding outfit?

Maxi Madness

Spring and Summer are the perfect seasons for a floor-sweeping maxi dress. They've been trending during these warm weather seasons for the past few years, and they definitely aren't going anywhere this year! With so many different styles, colors, and patterns, it's not hard to fall in love with more than one. Whether it be a tribal pattern, pastel hue, or semi-sheer fabric, these girly dresses are flattering and perfect with a pair of sky-high wedges or strappy flats. For a day by the pool, or a night out on the town, maxi dresses are a definite must-have.

Do you have any maxi dresses? Which are your favorites?

Blog Lovin': Fashion Inspiration

One of the main ways that I get my fashion inspiration is by looking at other fashion blogs that I follow. From high fashion outfits that I can't afford, to bright little numbers matched with amazing blazers, I love a little eye candy when I'm getting inspiration, and three of my absolute favorite blogs are shown here.

Superficial Girls has to be my favorite. Carlinn is such a cute and girly girl that I just want every piece that she wears! And her infinite amount of fun blazers makes me jealous beyond words. If you're looking for some fun and flirty inspiration, or an outfit with a pop of color, look no further than this blog.

Liz from Late Afternoon has a sophisticated yet fun style. She isn't afraid to take chances, like mixing patterns with patterns, or sport a simple yet chic outfit like the yellow dress below. And do I need to comment on that sherbet blazer - addicted. And with over 11,000 followers, I know I'm not the only one loving her style.

Sabo Skirt is a blog that features clothing from saboskirt.com. The pieces are ah-maz-ing, and even though they look expensive and high-fashion, they are totally affordable! From neon green blouses, to teal and lace dresses, this blog is great for inspiration - or you can just buy the pieces for your own closet!

What are your favorite blogs? Do you follow any of my favorites?

Color Love: Bright Yellow/Green

So I know that everyone is loving the "pop of color" trend right now (including myself), but why not take it a step further and make that color a neon? I've been seeing lots of pastels in stores since it's finally Spring, but I've also been seeing bright neons, like yellow and green! From runways to Forever 21, these colors are sure to catch your eye, and with the right styling and pieces, this can be a great trend for everyone this Spring and Summer! Whether it's on a bathing suit, accents on a wedge, or a full on dress, will you be rocking this trend?

I just bought a straw purse from Forever 21 with a little bit of neon yellow along the edges. I also got a pair of earrings with just a bit of the yellow on the edges, and everyone knows how I'm a nail polish addict, so of course, I've got neon nails too :)

Are you loving this trend or is it too bright for you? Do you own any neon yellow or green items?

Current Unknown Obsession: Polka Dots

D

Apparently I've been unaware of my current polka dot obsession. Almost all of the things that I've bought in the past month or two have polka dots on them, and I didn't even realize this until my most recent purchase of a polka dot dress from Forever 21 on Thursday. Polka dots seem to be pretty popular right now considering that they're popping up in stores everywhere. They're cute and girly, and celebrities are also loving the trend!

Do you own a lot of polka dot pieces? Do you have a polka dot obsession too?

My Newest TV Addiction: Fashion Star

I'll admit, I can get sucked into TV shows really easily - whether it be reality, dramas, or competitive shows, when I start watching a TV show, I just can't stop. That being said, I'm officially addicted to NBC's newest reality show - Fashion Star. It's sort of like an updated, new, and fresh take on Project Runway.

Fourteen designers create a new piece each week in three different variations (mostly just color differences), and three different buyers - one from H&M, Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue - decide if they want to buy the designer's pieces. If they do, then those designs can be bought the next days in that store. If a store buys your design, you're safe for the week. If not, you're up for elimination. The judges are allowed to save one person from the bottom three, and the buyers decide which of the bottom two goes home. Sort of hard to explain through text, but if you see the show, it's a lot more understandable.

The show is hosted by Elle Macpherson, and three judges, Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, and John Varvatos, serve as mentors for the designers and comment on the final products. Even though the show has only aired two episodes so far, the piece that Saks bought last week is already sold out!

I already have two favorite designers too - Sarah Parrott & Orly Shany. Sarah's designs from the past two weeks were both bought by H&M. I'm in love with the Bright Blue Backless Dress and the Tuxedo Trousers, and with a thrifty price of $19.95, I'm dying to get my hands on both! Orly Shany's Zip Mini Skirt was bought by Sak's and was so unique and innovative! I was shocked when her design from last night wasn't bought by anyone. It was a convertible dress that could be totally transformed.

I can't wait to see the rest of the season, and hopefully buy some of these amazing pieces! If you want to check out Fashion Star, tune into NBC on Tuesday nights at 10/9c.

Orly Shani's Zip Mini Skirt - $350.00 at Saks Fifth Avenue

Do you watch Fashion Star? Have you bought any of these pieces? Who are your favorite designers?

***Update: 03/23: I went and bought the blue dress from H&M! There were only two left when I got there, but luckily one of them was in my size :)

Spontaneous Colored Tips!

I've been feeling spontaneous lately, so I finally decided to dye my tips! I was so inspired when Lauren Conrad did blue and pink on her tips and I've been wanting to do it ever since. I'm planning on cutting my hair in a week or two, so it will just be temporary, but it's definitely a change for me. A lot of people probably wouldn't expect something like this from me, but since it's for a short time, why not give it a try? I got a great reaction from all my friends, and even though it hasn't totally sunk in that part of my hair is blue, pink, and purple, I'm slowly getting used to feeling like I have mermaid hair haha.

Dying my tips was relatively easy too. I mainly just followed the tutorial from The Beauty Department. I got all the supplies at Sally Beauty Salon for about $40 and then my friend kindly spent 2 hours working on about 12 different streaks. First, you need to bleach the tips, then wash them out and then put the color on, and you're going to want a few different shades of whatever color you want so that you can get an ombre-esque look. Click here for the full detailed instructions!

The colors I used, and the two test pieces I did the night before.

The final turn-out!

What do you think about colored tips? Have you or will you ever try this with your hair?
