The Bey & Jay Show...AKA The Grammys 2014

Okay, so usually after a big awards show like the Grammys or Oscars I do a recap of the red carpet looks that I liked or disliked most, but honestly, the red carpet looks were so unamusing to me this year that Jay-Z and Beyonce absolutely stole all my attention...and the show in general. Their performance, threads and presence overall were jaw-dropping and show stopping.

I got home and sat down in my living room just in time to see Beyonce open the show with an amazing performance accompanied by her beau, Jay-Z. She performed her newest hit, "Drunk on Love" while seductively dancing on a chair, yet somehow still doing it in an extremely class way that only Beyonce can pull off.

After Beyonce sang every note with perfection, Jay-Z joined her on stage for his part. They danced together and couldn't have looked better. Her body, I mean, how can anyone even compare it to anything. It is perfection in itself and anyone who tells you it's not is lying. Her curves can make anyone envious.

I loved Beyonce's outfit choice, which consisted of a La Perla collar paired with a Nichole de Carle bodysuit, Saint Laurent tights and Stuart Weitzman heels. I will admit thought that I wasn't the biggest fan of her wet, wavy bobbed hair.

As if the two couldn't get any better, Jay-Z ended up taking home the award for Best Rap/Song Collaboration with Justin Timberlake for "Holy Grail. In his acceptance speech, not only did he give a shoutout to his "beautiful light of a young lady" and his daughter, Blue Ivy. "I also want to tell Blue, look - Daddy got a gold sippy cup," laughed Jay-Z.

And of course, I couldn't finish this off without commenting on their original red carpet looks, which were on point as well. Beyonce stunned in a floral, white mesh Michael Costello gown that showed skin in all the right places. Hubby, Jay-Z, looked dapper in an impeccably tailored tuxedo.

Overall, I think you get my point. The Grammys 2014 should basically be renamed the Beyonce and Jay-Z Show 2014. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of other amazing performances, but Bey and Jay stole my heart.

My Dream Red Carpet Gown

With the red carpet season in full swing, I thought it would be fun to pick out a few gowns that I would love to wear on the red carpet if I were ever a celebrity or had the chance.

Two of my absolute favorite designers are Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad. So naturally, those were the two designers that I chose from for my favorite red carpet looks. Sofia Vergara and Kate Beckinsale both looked stunning at the Golden Globes red carpet and after party in dark, sequined gowns. Click here to see my red carpet review for the Golden Globes and keep reading to see my choices!

Above is a gorgeous Zuhair Murad gown in bright red. I love delicate details and lace, so this was an obvious choice for me. The color looks amazing and I think it would really complement my blonde hair. I also really love the shape - it cinches in all the right places!

This gorgeous gown is an Elie Saab dark emerald dress. Speaking of delicate detailing, I love all the beading and meticulous details. I also love how you can see through the green for a pop of white. I'm obsessed with emerald right now, so I'm naturally loving this hue.

This is also an Elie Saab gown. I love the sweetheart neckline and the small belt at the waist. The color is so pretty and looks great against the red carpet. I also love the slight shimmer that it gives off from the silver details in the dress. Simple yet extremely elegant.

What do you think about my red carpet picks? Who would you wear if you had the chance to walk the red carpet?

Best & Worst Dressed from The Academy Awards 2013

The Academy Awards, otherwise known as The Oscars, is probably one of the most talked about awards shows of the season. That being said, the red carpet expectations are very high. At last year's Academy Awards, I was not impressed at all. No one really stood out and Angelina's exposed pale leg stole the show (in a bad way). Click here to see the red carpet flop from last year. I was happy to see that this year was much different. The red carpet was filled with glamorous actresses wearing breathtaking gowns - both good and bad.

Pictured above are some of my favorites from the night. Louise Roe looked exquisite in a beige Monique Lhuillier gown with detailing. The dress looked amazing with her skin tone, although I'm not loving the styling paired with the dress. Next, Sandra Bullock looked elegant and stylish in a black Elie Saab embellished gown. Of course I would love this on her! I knew that Elie Saab would be found somewhere on this red carpet! All eyes were on Jennifer Lawrence in her Dior Haute Couture gown. Although I'm not usually a fan of large ball gowns like this, with her exquiste styling and for an event like The Academy Awards, it's acceptable in my book. Unfortunately, she took a little spill while she was walking up the stairs to accept her award, but she still managed to look glamorous!

Amy Adams looked breathtaking in an Oscar de la Renta light blue gown. Her personality was perfect for this dress and she walked the red carpet with grace and confidence. Naomi Watts sparkled on the red carpet in this Armani Prive gown with an assymettical top. The gown itself is gorgeous, but the unique cut of the top makes it stand out even more. Last, Jessica Chastain looked simple but stunning in an embellished Giorgio Armani gown. Some might say she was playing it safe, but it looked amazing on her, especially with her curled hair and minimal jewelry.

There were a few gowns that I just couldn't decide if I loved or hated. Halle Berry took a major risk in this sparkly striped Versace gown. It doesn't look horrible on her, but I think it would have looked better on someone else. Jennifer Hudson showed off her body in a Roberto Cavalli navy blue gown. Again, it's not horrible, but not great either. Last, Stacy Keibler walked the red carpet by the side of George Clooney in a Naeem Khan gown. I like the look of the gown itself, but I'm not sure about the all black belt and the high neckline. I think that making it a strapless dress and adding a lighter gray belt that blended better with the gown would have moved it up to the best dressed list.

Of course, there have to be some misses on the red carpet. I was upset to see that Anne Hathaway really bombed it at the Academy Awards this year. Her style isn't always my favorite, but this was just intolerable. Her pale pink Prada gown that exposed her nipples was not a good look for her. Helena Bonham Carter has never came close to being on my best dressed list and tonight was no exception. This tiered Vivienne Westwood gown paired with messy hair looked horrible. Finally, Brandi Glanville (from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) decided to squeeze herself into this gown which she helped design. Obviously she's showing way too much cleavage here, so maybe she should just stick to reality TV.

Who were your favorites and least favorites from the Academy Awards? Were you shocked when you saw Anne and Brandi's gowns?

Grammy Awards 2013 Red Carpet Review

The 55th Annual Grammy Awards aired last night and there were some looks that I just can't get over...in a good way! But of course, every red carpet has its flaws, and there were a few starlets who completely missed the mark.

Let's start out with the best of the best. By far, the most gorgeous woman on the red carpet was Rihanna. I'm not usually a Rihanna fan, but how can you not be a Rihanna fan when you see her in this crimson red Azzedine Alaia dress. She was a true show-stopper with her hair in loose, natural waves and stunning makeup. She channeled her inner girly-girl side on the red carpet and on the stage when she performed twice. But her red carpet look was no doubt the best of the night.

Runner-ups for best dressed included Carrie Underwood in a simple but detailed Roberto Cavalli gown, Katy Perry in a mint green Gucci gown, Taylor Swift, looking white hot in J. Mendel, and Kelly Rowland who walked the red carpet with loads of confidence in a Georges Chakra Couture gown. I know that Kelly's dress may be a little controversial, but I think it's just daring enough without showing everything off.

And of course, there were those who left me scratching my head and wondering why. Jennifer Lopez stuck out to my first...or rather her leg stuck out to me, literally. J Lo channeled her inner Angelina Jolie and showed a bit too much leg in a black Anthony Vaccarello gown with an extremely high slit. Other misses included Kimbra in a custom Jamie Lee dress, Lisa D'amato reminded me of a pirate in an interesting choice for the Grammys, and finally, D'manti in a mermaidesque Claudio Milano dress.

Last but not least is Alicia Keys. I wasn't blown away by her dress, but it also wasn't horrible. Then I realized that her dress looked very familiar. After a quick look at the gown that she wore to the Superbowl last week, I was shocked that the dress's bottoms were nearly the same. Alicia wore an oxblood Azzedine Alaia dress to the Superbowl Pregame show, and a black Azzedine Alaia dress with cut-outs to the red carpet at the Grammys. I could understand if she wanted to use the same designer, but to use basically the same dress is a bit repetitive.

Who did you think was the best dressed? Do you think Alicia made a mistake in choosing that dress?

Friday Favorites 02/01/2013

Happy February - It's time for Friday Favorites! Jessica Alba, Amanda Seyfriend, Lauren Conrad, and...the "kid president" himself.

Lately, I've been falling in love with Jessica Alba's style! She's been on my best dressed list for the past three weeks, and she doesn't seem to be going anywhere. She walked the red carpet on Sunday night at the Producer's Guild Awards in a lacy, sexy Elie Saab dress. I'm a huge fan of Elie Saab, so I loved it on the runway just as much as on Jessica!

My number one idol and style icon is Lauren Conrad, so when I saw her face on Lucky Magazine's March issue, I couldn't be happier. She always holds herself with class and she's a great style icon and role model for everyone! And today happens to be her 27th birthday! Happy Birthday Lauren!

Amanda Seyfried has also been killing in on the red carpet lately. There was not one thing about her look at the Screen Actor's Guild Awards. From head to toe, her hair and makeup was flawless, and her navy blue, mermaid Zac Posen gown fit her like a glove. Loving everything about this!

I'm just in love with this YouTube video. It's an inspirational, but funny pep talk made by "Kid President."

Finally, I hope that all of my readers like my new look! I gave my blog a face lift yesterday, and so far, I'm really loving it. Let me know what you like, or don't like. I would love some constructive criticism!

Who were your favorites from the SAG Awards red carpet? Do you love Jessica Alba's style?

Favorites from People's Choice Awards and The Golden Globes 2013

Awards season is officially in full swing! This past week, two awards shows took place to kick off the red carpet season: People's Choice Awards and The Golden Globes. The best part about awards shows isn't the show itself, but the hour before on the red carpet. Instead of highlighting both the worst and the best dressed, I picked a few of my favorites from each of the red carpets.

People's Choice Awards
Lea Michele in a bright pink, sequined Elie Saab mini.
Taylor Swift in a white hot Ralph Lauren dress with a plunging neckline.
Chloe Grace Moretz in a neon yellow floral Simone Roche dress.

Golden Globe Awards
Hayden Panettiere in a strapless, mermaid style gown by Roberto Cavalli.
Kate Hudson in a black Alexander McQueen gown with gold embellishments.
Isla Fisher in a detailed Reem Acra gown with a sheer top.

Check out the best and the worst dressed from last year's People's Choice Awards and Golden Globes!

Which gowns were your favorite? Which awards shows are you looking forward to?

Academy Awards 2012 Red Carpet Flop

The 2012 Academy Award's red carpet was a complete disappointment. Sure, there were a few gowns that were stunning, but the  majority looked lack-luster and inappropriate. I get that starlets want to be daring with their wardrobes, but some of these ladies have more than one offense. Keep reading to find out my opinions.

Maria Menounos, Guiliana Rancic, Octavia Spencer

Unfortunately, these were the only ladies who received my seal of approval. I loved the flowiness and color of Maria's gown, and the cut-out sides to have a sexy and revealing back were the perfect touches to make the dress unique. Guiliana always looks stunning, and tonight was no different. The dress fit her like a glove, there was just enough sparkle, and the detailing was exquisite. Finally, Octavia (winner of best supporting actress) looked classy and chic in her silver sequin embellished gown.

Shailene Woodley, Emma Stone, Gwyenth Paltrow

Unnecessary Additions. These ladies could have made themselves and their dresses look a lot better if they just didn't make the extra additions. Shailene is too young to be wearing sleeves like that. The gown makes her look too mature, and even a little dowdy. Emma can definitely loose that large bow, and it wouldn't hurt to take that cape/sleeve combo away from Gwyenth's dress.

Missi Pyle, Sherri Shepherd, Virginia Madsen

Bright hues and blues. Don't get me wrong, I love a good pop of color, but the combination of these colors and the shapes of dresses were a dreadful duo. Missi one shoulder accent looked awkward, as did the bottom half of her dress. Sherri looked bad all around. The shape of that dress did nothing for her body structure and there was too much going on at the top with the cleavage combined with the details. Finally, Virgina's gown looked stiff and the color was a bit bright for her.

Anna Faris, Jane Seymour, Melissa Leo

Sparkling Messes. Sequins are a huge trend right now, but these ladies proved that sequins can go very, very wrong. Anna is usually such a fun girl, but this dress totally tore her down. The all-over sequins looked tacky and the sleeves didn't make it any better. Jane's red sequin gown didn't seem appropriate for an awards show red carpet, and Melissa's two-toned dress looked horrific, but the worst part had to be the top.

Last, and apparently not least, was Angelina Jolie showing off a little leg in Versace. I've never been the biggest fan of Angelina, but everyone seems to just adore her. Her dress wasn't so bad, but the way she kept on posing with her ghostly pale leg sticking out like that made me cringe. Every pose - literally, every pose - looked like this. Definitely not a fan.
Do you disagree? Or were you disappointed with the red carpet gowns too?

Golden Globes 2012 Red Carpet

Although the Golden Globes isn't my favorite awards show to watch, of course I couldn't leave out a red carpet review from one of  such a classic event! Among the sparkling starlets and dapper dudes, they're were some amazing gowns while others left me asking why.

Ruffles seemed to be a trend for the GG red carpet this year.
Dianna Argon's red hot ruffles looked amazing with her detailed bodice, while Julianne Moore's black ruffles were in all the wrong places. A slim-fitting top with ruffles around the hips, then slim in the legs again only made her body look larger than it actually is - and what woman wants that?!

There were quite a few that I loved though, including
Elle Macpherson's off-white mermaid-style gown, and Channing Tatum's wife, Jenna Dewan, in a simple yet elegant emerald gown. Evan Rachel Wood reminded me of a peacock, in a good way! Her sequin top and feathered bottom were a perfect match. And of course, who could hate Sofia Vergara's hip hugging silhouette?

Lastly, I can't believe that
Kelly Osbourne has shown up to disappoint...yet again! Her bright blue dress with a strong shoulder accentuation just did not work for me....and I'm still begging desperately that she dies her hair back to a normal color. For one of the hosts for Fashion Police, I expect a lot more from her!

As for
Lea Michele, pictured on the right, I'm not so sure what to think. What's your opinion? Do you think there will ever be an awards show were I love all the dresses? What do you think?

GOOD

Elle Macpherson, Sarah Hyland, Heidi Klum

Evan Rachel Wood, Dianna Argon, Sofia Vergara

Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan; George Clooney & Stacey Keibler; Cash Warren & Jessica Alba

BAD

Natalie Portman, Kelly Osbourne, Zooey Deschanel

Piper Parabo, Julianne Moore, Sarah Michelle Gellar

People's Choice Awards 2012

It's finally January, and you know what that means...the red carpet season! The People's Choice Awards 2012 kicked off the season with gorgeous dresses and makeup. Although it's not the best red carpet, there were definitely a few that outshined the rest, like Miley Cyrus. She continues to surprise me, as I'm not usually her biggest fan, but her makeup and wardrobe (and arm candy accessory Liam Hemsworth) were all gorgeous!

But as always, there were some starlets that left me scratching my head, like Nina Dobrev (pictured on the left). I love the color, but I'm not so sure about the sleeves. Then Kristen Bell and Ashley Greene both tried to rock leather and lace, but it just didn't mesh well on Kristen, and Ashley's dress was completely ill-fitting.

And then, there were some floaters - some that I didn't really love, but I didn't hate either. Let's just say they were confused? I would have loved Kelly Osbourne's  it if it were strapless, but those sleeves make it look horrible, and I'm really not loving those gray tresses either. And Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence's cut outs are a bit suggestive, am I right?

Did you watch the awards show last night? Who were your favorites/least favorites?

Miley Cyrus, Kaley Cuoco, Cheryl Burke

Julianne Hough, Miley Cyrus, Lucy Hale

Demi Lovato, Lucy Hale, Vanessa Hudgens

Kelly Osbourne, Jennifer Lawrence, Julianne Hough

Kathy Griffin, Kristen Bell, Ashley Greene

Red Carpet Looks I Love

Here's three recent red carpet looks that I absolutely love! Do you agree?

Taylor Swift. Pictured at the Nashville Symphony Ball. As if Taylor Swift could look bad, I really don't know if I've seen a bad outfit on her yet!

Miley Cyrus. On the CNN Heroes red carpet wearing Roberto Cavalli with the amazingly gorgeous, Liam Hemsworth. I'm usually not a Miley fan, but this dress is sexy and stunning, and I love her hair and makeup too. She finally got it right!

Brooklyn Decker. Pictured at the Spike TV Video Game Awards wearing a Nha Khanh dress. I love the lacy dress, but the highlighter yellow pumps definitely give it a great pop of color!
